Aftercare

You are responsible for the aftercare of your piercing. It is important that you follow the aftercare instructions provided at your appointment and use the aftercare solution provided.

You will be encouraged to book in for 3 - 6 weeks post piercing for downsizing of the posts as advised at your initial piercing appointment. Should you decline or do not show, there will be an additional fee charged for downsizing should you decide to downsize

It is important to downsize posts to prevent migration, uneven healing angles, irritation and piercing bumps.

Be careful with your new piercing. Your piercing can be irritated when knocked, washing hair or putting clothes on. For sleeping I recommend investing in a piercing pillow.

Sleep with your hair tied back to prevent it catching new piercings.

Avoid sleeping with wet/damp hair as the moisture can lead to complications

When you shower, rinse the piercing with clean water to ensure all the soap suds are cleared from the area of your fresh piercing.

Expect build-up of dried matter on the piercing during the healing process, use warm water on a paper towel to reduce the build up.

Shield your new piercings from hairsprays and styling products to prevent irritation.

Be careful when doing any strenuous exercise when healing a fresh body piercing, and we suggest avoiding wearing tight clothing for body piercings if you do exercise.

Clen your phone screen regularly. Phone screens harbour a lot of bacteria which can be introduced into new ear/facial piercings.

Do not remove your jewellry during its healing time as it can potentially introduce infection and potentially begin to close immediately.

We suggest you avoid swimming in chlorinated swimming pools or freshwater during the first 7-10 days

Tighten the ball of the jewellery by twisting clockwise now and again with clean hands or if it feels loose.

If the piercing becomes inflamed, clean twice a day with cleaning solution provided or warm water. take regular paracetamol to help relieve any discomfort - paracetamol also helps with inflammation. Please get in touch if you are concerned.

If the jewellery comes out, you have not followed the after care precautions of tightening the ball, try to reinsert as soon as possible. If you cannot get the jewellery back in you are welcome to attend a clinic at the next available appointment - there will be a £20 to reinsert jewellry. If you require it to be repierced you will be charged the full piercing price.

  • Bleeding, bruising and swelling are all common with a new piercing.

  • Some tenderness or discomfort in the area of a new piercing can be expected for several days or longer. Discolouration/redness and itching during the healing process are also common.

  • Secretion of a white/yellow fluid (not puss) is part of the healing process, this liquid dries and causes the crust around the piercing site.

  • Piercings will go through ups and downs while healing. They may appear healed for a while and then regress; the key is to continue with your cleaning routine throughout the initial healing period.

  • Piercings (including healed piercings) that are not cleaned daily may smell unpleasant, this does not necessarily indicate a problem.

  • Jewellery should not be expected to rotate or move freely in piercings, even after healing. most piercings will shrink of close very quickly if the jewellery is removed, so if you love your piercing it is vital to leave your jewellery in at all times!
